Season’s Greetings to all of you.
We are pleased to announce that we have been re-accredited for another 3 year term. The validator had very good things to say about our programming and staff –child interactions in all rooms. We were not found lacking in any area and were able to provide evidence that best practices in childcare are being consistently followed.
Reminder: Annual Christmas Open House and potluck supper on Wednesday, Dec.4, ‘13 from 5 to 6 pm at the centre.
We hope that you will be able to join in. This will be a great opportunity for parents to meet and spend time with staff members and other parents on an informal basis. Please do not forget to bring your favorite dish for the potluck table -salads, rolls, sandwiches, main dish, fruit or veggie platter, desserts, squares, crackers and cheese, pizza, multi-cultural items, are all welcome. We will provide beverages. Please avoid bringing in juice boxes, pop, candy and popcorn. A sign- up sheet has already been posted near your children’s sign in/ out sheets. This will give us an idea as to what to add on.
We will kick off the party with a magic show for older children from 4.30 to 5 PM. Potluck supper will be set up in the lower level from 5 PM onwards. Santa Claus will arrive just after the magic show and will be upstairs to pass on goodies for your children and to pose for photographs.
For the rest of the month, we will continue with Christmas themed programming and activities and try to give children outdoor time unless it is too wet or dangerously cold. Our policy is that if a child is well enough to attend daycare, he / she should be well enough to take part in all our activities, indoors and outdoors. Please make sure that your child has weather appropriate outdoor wear on all days.
Just as in the past years, daycare will remain closed during the last week of December. Our last day of work in December will be 12 noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and we will open in the new year on Thursday, January 2, 2013.
